Lovely read.

Thank you!

The table with the 2-0+ defeats is astonishing....Liverpool should set up an Only Fans account ;P

Thanks, mate. I don't always have time to rewatch the match in full but I made sure I had time for this one which always helps!

You're really satisfying my need for stats! Fantastic read! I really admire the depth and context you bring to your work—it always adds so much value.

On the formation front (I’m calling it a 4-2-2-2-0!), was this the first time we’ve seen Slot use this setup? I didn’t catch any preseason games, but this feels like a solid blueprint for tough away nights in Europe. The 0.6xG for City is quite an achievement for us - I didn't think we'd be capable of building such a concrete red wall.

P.s. Eight 2-0 wins now—I want more!

Thanks, glad you like it.

Re the formation - it was used (more or less) in the first proper friendly of the summer, a 1-0 win over Real Betis. Elliott and Szoboszlai were the front two on that occasion.

I seem to recall Slot saying he set the team up that way simply because they didn’t have an available centre forward, rather than for any tactical planning reason. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see it again now though, considering how well it worked at the Etihad.

And on the 2-0s, two more equals the Premier League era record. It feels very achievable for this side.
